Polynucleotides : The Regenerative Treatment

If you’re looking for the next big thing in skincare and skin rejuvenation, polynucleotides might just be it. With the aesthetics industry constantly evolving, treatments that focus on skin health and regeneration are becoming more popular. As an experienced aesthetics nurse at Coco-Rose Aesthetics in Colchester, I’ve seen firsthand how polynucleotides can work wonders for the skin. If you’re considering this treatment, here’s everything you need to know.

What exactly are Polynucleotides?

Lately, 'Polynucleotides' has been the buzzword in the aesthetics world, but what are they exactly? Let’s break it down.

Polynucleotide injectables are a form of regenerative medicine that uses DNA fragments to stimulate tissue repair and skin rejuvenation. Derived from salmon DNA, these injectables contain nucleotides that closely resemble human DNA, ensuring high compatibility with our skin cells. When injected into targeted areas, polynucleotides promote collagen synthesis, enhance cell regeneration, and improve skin texture.

By creating an optimal environment for fibroblast growth, these injectables nourish skin cells and improve their function, making them a fantastic choice for natural and long-term skin health.

Who is this treatment for?

Thanks to polynucleotides’ antioxidant properties, inflammation is reduced and youthful volume and hydration are restored. The list of applications seems endless, but key uses include:

  • Acne

  • Scarring

  • Rosacea

  • Skin Laxity

  • Hair loss

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Stretch marks

  • Deep lines & wrinkles

  • Rehydration for dull skin at any age

  • Dark circles

What can you expect from this treatment?

If you’re thinking about booking in, here’s what the treatment process typically looks like:

Consultation

Before any treatment at Coco-Rose Aesthetics, we conduct a thorough consultation to discuss your skin concerns, expectations, and suitability for polynucleotides. We also review your medical history and answer any questions you may have.

The Treatment Itself

  • Your skin will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to ensure maximum comfort.

  • Polynucleotides are injected into the skin using a fine needle or cannula, depending on the treatment area.

  • The procedure takes around 30-45 minutes, and most clients describe the discomfort as minimal—similar to other skin booster treatments.

Aftercare & Downtime

One of the best things about polynucleotide treatments is that there’s little to no downtime. You might experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, but this typically subsides within a few days. To get the best results, it’s important to:

  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours

  • Stay out of direct sunlight and wear SPF 50

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24-48 hours

  • Keep the skin hydrated

When will I start to see results?

The first signs of improvement often begin around 7-10 days after your first treatment, with the full effects visible at around 3-4 weeks. This is when we recommend your second, and subsequent treatments to take place. By doing so, we maintain continued, active stimulation of fibroblast production, maximising short and long-term results.

How long will the results last?

Polynucleotides differ from other, hyaluronic-based skin boosters and dermal fillers. Rather than giving skin a surge in collagen and elastin, or ‘plumping’ the skin with carefully placed temporary products, polynucleotides are catalysts in the regeneration of fibroblasts – the main cells within the skin’s structure. The product itself is absorbed by the body fairly rapidly, having activated new cell production. Of course, we continue to age, but the clock has quite literally been turned back in your treated areas. From a course of treatments, expect results to last around one whole year!

Why Choose Polynucleotides Over Other Skin Treatments?

With so many treatments available, why opt for polynucleotides? The key difference is that they work to restore and regenerate the skin rather than just plumping or masking concerns. Here’s why they’re a game-changer:

  • Natural results – No overfilled or frozen look, just healthier skin

  • Long-term benefits – Encourages your skin to repair itself over time

  • Safe and well-tolerated – Derived from natural sources with minimal side effects

Is This Treatment Right for You?

If you want a natural approach to skin rejuvenation that focuses on long-term skin health, polynucleotides are a fantastic option. Whether you’re concerned about fine lines, dullness, or loss of elasticity, this treatment helps restore that fresh, youthful glow without drastic changes.
